One bilingual design system for an imagined metro network — the app, platform screens, ticket machines and signs, all from the same tokens.
A studio concept — not client work, and no results claimed.
Overview
Masar is a design system for an imagined metro: one set of tokens and components that runs a phone app, platform displays, ticket machines and printed signs, in Arabic and English side by side.
Problem
Transit is designed in pieces — the app by one team, signs by another, screens by a vendor. Riders feel the seams: different names, colors and arrows for the same line, and Arabic as an afterthought on half of them.
Our decisions
Start from the hardest surface — a sign read at walking pace from 20 meters — and scale down to the phone. Line colors that hold for color-blind riders, Arabic and English at equal weight, and arrows and pictograms that mirror where they should and stay put where they shouldn't.

What it shows
- How one system holds from a three-meter platform sign to a six-inch screen.
- Bilingual wayfinding where neither language is the translation.
